Buenos Aires, January 6 (NA) – More than two decades after the Popstars phenomenon, Luana Pascual reappeared with a compelling testimony that once again put the behind-the-scenes of the successful musical reality show under debate. According to the Argentine News Agency (NA), in a video that went viral on social media, the former contestant surprised by revealing how the earnings actually were back then, highlighting a stark contrast with the winning group, Bandana. 'While the girls were earning $1,200 a month because Gustavo Yankelevich took it all, I was earning 200 dollars per show,' Pascual stated. Furthermore, the finalist expressed: 'I had a contract with RGB, Yankelevich's production company, where we couldn't perform for two years, that's why I went to work in Peru.' 'Thank goodness they didn't choose me, because they would have exploited me a lot, just like they exploited Bandana. I'm glad they freed themselves from Yankelevich's claws,' the singer concluded. In the video, Luana makes it clear that television success was not always accompanied by good contracts. As she explained, while Bandana had a fixed monthly amount, she, outside the group, managed to generate higher income by performing live, charging for each show. This statement debunks the idea that those who reached the top of the show were necessarily the best-paid and exposes how the music business worked in the early years of reality TV in Argentina. Popstars was one of the most successful shows of the early 2000s and launched careers that marked an entire generation. However, over time, accounts of unfavorable contracts and an unequal distribution of profits began to emerge.
